Burnett Joseph Young
Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Burnett Joseph Young, 75, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday,
February 1, 2007, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Old Ville Platte Cemetery in Ville Platte.
Father Angelo Cremaldi will conduct the services.
Mr. Young, a native of Chataignier and resident of Opelousas, died at 5:50 a.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2007, in the Prompt Succor Nursing Home.
Mr. Young was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His personality was easy going which everyone loved. He was a Draftsman for many years with an Architecture firm in Lafayette and loved farming after business hours. Not only was he a hard worker, he was also a very talented gentleman. As a hobby, Burnett was an artist and loved designing personal birthday cards for his grandchildren each year. He was a very creative wood craftsman. He also collected old bottles and sweet potato labels. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Mr. Young was a US Army Veteran who served his country during the Korean Conflict.
P Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jeanne Deville Young of Opelousas; one son, Charles Young and wife, Veronica of Carencro; four daughters: Roxanna Meaux and husband, Dalton of Perry; Athena Broussard of Lafayette; Rachel Schafer and husband, Paul of Marietta, Ohio; and Aleda Cleveland and husband, Dan of Thornton, Colorado; one brother, John R. Young and wife, Glend
