Burley Joseph Richard
Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Burley Joseph Richard, age 81, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Landry Catholic Church In Opelousas, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. Msgr. Robert Romero will celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Richard was born in Eunice and was a resident of Opelousas. He passed away at 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas.
Mr. Richard was a member of the Elks Club 1048 of Opelousas and the American Legion- Washington Post 0209. Mr. Burley was a U.S. Navy Veteran who proudly served his country during WWII. He was a house painter by trade and also worked at the St. Landry Parish School Board in the maintance department as a painter. Mr. Burley served the St. Landry Catholic Church as an Usher for many years. He also really enjoyed a good card game. Mr. Burley will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
Survivors include his son, Conrad Richard and companion, Linda Way of Opelousas; daughter, Susan Higginbotham and husband O'Neal of Opelousas; brother, Jesse LeJeune of Eunice ; sisters: Essie Fruge of Eunice; and Hattie Andrepont of Sulphur; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Mr. Burley was preceeded in death by his wife, Rena M Richard; and parents: Anas and Adeliade Guillory Richard.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, June 2, from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Tuesday, visitation will continue in the Funeral Home from 8 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m.
The rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday in the Funeral Home.
