Opelousas -Funeral services for Mr. Edward Bruce Jennings, age 91, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2016, in the First Baptist Church of Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Rev. Perry Hubbs will officiate the services.
Bruce was born in Port Arthur, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Opelousas. He died on Friday, October 7, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was retired after working for many years as an installer and repairman for South Central Bell. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who proudly served his country during WWII. He enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and doing woodworking. He was a wonderful and loving husband, and a very devoted father, brother, uncle, friend, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survivors include one son, Connie Tatman and wife, Betty Bellard Tatman of Opelousas; two daughters: Dianne Jennings of Lafayette; and Carmen Denise Speyrer of Opelousas; brother, Arnold Jennings of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Robbie Jennings of Opelousas; three grandchildren: Chantel Speyrer and partner, Jason Gondron, Jr. of Lafayette; Shane Tatman and wife, Kathy Langlois Tatman of Opelousas; and Michelle Tatman Miller and husband, Jude of Opelousas; and four great-grandchildren: Brooke Tatman, Kiley Tatman, Zachary Miller, and Zane Miller. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Killer.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward Jennings and Hazel Barrett Jennings; his wife, Elsie Patin Jennings; brothers, Oren Jennings and Trent Jennings; and his companion, Bettie Lalonde.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 10, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Opelousas.
