Bruce Allen Broussard

Port Barre Private graveside services for Mr. Bruce Allen Broussard, age 73, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. This was the wishes of Mr. Broussard as expressed to his family.

Mr. Broussard was a native of Eunice and was a longtime resident of Port Barre. He died on Saturday, September 11, 2010, at his residence.

Mr. Broussard served his Nation in the U.S. Air Force after his military service he began his career as a coach and teacher serving for over 35 years most of those years 27 were spent at Port Barre High School and the others at Basile and Eunice High School. Mr. Broussard was well respected by the students he taught, the faculty he served with and by his many friends and family. Mr. Broussard served as a mentor to many young people. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and is going to be missed by all.

Survivors include sons Bobby Broussard and wife Debbie, Eunice Glen A. Broussard and wife Kelly L., Big Cane John J. Basco, Lafayette Lynn Broussard, Waterbury, Conn. daughters Matilda Bonvillain, Carencro Phyllis Glasscock and husband Mitchell, Opelousas Christina Wiker, Tampa, Fla. Regina Basco, Port Barre brother Larry Broussard, Mamou and twenty grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and greatgreat grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mattie Lou Broussard parents, Euel and Georgina Fontenot Broussard and a brother, Terry Broussard.
