Birdie Sibille Moreau

OPELOUSAS Funeral services for Mrs. Birdie Sibille Moreau, 83, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2007, in St. Landry Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial and interment followed in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Msgr. Romero will conduct the services. The Readings for the Mass will be done by Mildred LaPoint and Karen Domengeaux. The Gift bearers will be Shelly Moreau, Calvin Lege and Becky Lege. Music will be provided by Valerie Andrus.

Mrs. Moreau was a long time resident of Opelousas and died at 10:05 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2007, at Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas. She was a native of Bristol, which is a small community near Sunset. She was a 1940 Graduate of Sunset High School and a 1944 Graduate of the College of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau. She was a school teacher in the St. Landry Parish School System for over 29 years.

She was honored to have the Shuteston Produce Company Birdie-Joy LA Porto Rican Sweet Potatoes named after her, and her cousin, Joy. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed, not only by family and friends, but by all of those whose lives she has touched throughout the years.

She leaves to mourn his loss, yet cherish every memory, one son, Brett Moreau and wife, Myra; and two grandchildren: Shelly Faye Moreau and Logan Jude Moreau, all of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Gustave Joseph Bill Moreau; and her parents, Remi and Odille Bourque Sibille.

Visiting hours will be observed on Sunday, February 11, 2007, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Monday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Brett Moreau, Robbie Sebastien, Ladislas Lazaro IV, Mark Reed, Kent Sibille, and David McKinney. Honorary Pall bearers will be Logan Moreau and Austin Wyble.
