Beverly Abdalla Johnson
Opelousas Funeral Services Beverly Abdalla Johnson, age 83, will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum. Fr. Austin Leger and Pator Dave Beverly of Opelousas Bible Church will officiate the service.
Beverly was a resident of Opelousas she passed away at Opelousas General Health System, on January 10, 2011.
Beverly attended SLI in Lafayette and Washington University in St. Louis, MO. She also was a past member of the Opelousas Garden Club and the U.S.O.
Beverly was a present member of the Orphan Train Society of Louisiana, her mother Mary Tujague, was one of the original Orphan Train Children. She was the first grandchild of George and Jasmine Abdalla who were natives of Lebanon, and who immigrated to Louisiana and were pioneers in the Clothing Business, after their children were born including Jacob, Beverlys father they also became partners in Abdallas Clothing Stores business which were located in Opelousas, Lafayette and New Iberia. She also cherished her Irish heritage from her mother. Beverly was a nature lover and a stargazer. She loved the Arts and was a very good artist in her own rights. She was a supporter of Metropolition of the Museum of Arts. Beverly possessed a very strong sense of style and was a very creative person who enjoyed traveling, and enjoyed her family being with them for special occasions and holidays and any thing that would bring them together. Her family loving called her Mimi.
Beverly cared for her parents in their older years, doing what ever it took to keep them happy and healthy and also helped the Family Real Estate Business when her father passed away.
Survivors include her children Holly Johnson and husband, Don Davis Paxinos, PA., William Hale Johnson and wife, Penny of Lafayette, Heather Barron and husband, Keith of Opelousas, sister Mary Ann Abdalla of Opelousas, grandchildren Jeremy Barron, Brianna Barron, William Lee Johnson,and wife Juliana,of New Jersey, Christopher Scallan, great grandchildren Chloe Crawford and Isabella Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jacob Jake and Mary Tujague Abdalla, her husband William O. Johnson, brother John Jacob Abdalla.
The family has requested that the visitation be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 from 4:00 pm 9:00 pm and will reopen on Saturday Morning at 8:00 am until time of service at 10:00am.
A rosary service will be at 6:30 PM on Friday day evening in the funeral home.
