Betty Stansbury

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prairie Ronde for Mrs. Betty Jane Ledoux Stansbury. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rev. Father Ted Broussard will celebrate the Mass. The Readings for the Mass will be done by Julie Stansbury, Timothy Arceneaux, and Jordan Barron. The gifts will be presented by Sarah Ontiveros, Mia Lewis, Katie Stansbury, Mackenzie Burton, Jessie Barron, and Alexandra Pitre. Musical selections will be provided by her greatgrandsons, Adam Arceneaux and Austin Arceneaux.
Betty was a native of Prairie Ronde and longtime resident of Lawtell, LA. She passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 83.
Mrs. Betty was known for her homemade bread. She enjoyed being outdoors working in her garden and going to garage sales. She looked forward to gatherings with her family and friends especially during Christmas. Her life was centered towards helping others during their time of need as a caregiver, homemaker, and friend. She was a devout Catholic who attended Mass regularly and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Prairie Ronde.
Survivors include four sons, John Stansbury and wife, Sheryl of Youngsville Jack Stansbury of Lawtell Jimmy Stansbury of Morgan City and Jay Stansbury and wife, Bettina of Ponchatoula five daughters, Jane Arceneaux and husband, Charles of Erwinville Joanna Fontenot and husband, Gilbert of Mamou Janet Barron of Lawtell Joyce Pitre of Lawtell and Joan Burton and husband, Terry of Omaha, NE one brother, Dwight Ledoux of Opelousas five sisters, Lois Roberts of Opelousas Maxine Herrera of Lafayette Georgina Ryder of Opelousas Lana Hebert of Breaux Bridge and Lynn Dalier of Greenwell Springs 27 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Stansbury two sons, Jerry Stansbury and Joey Stansbury her parents, Phillip Ledoux and LouAnna Bertrand Ledoux and one brother, Darrel Ledoux.
Pallbearers will be Eric Arceneaux, Jason Stansbury, Stan Stansbury, Michael Fontenot, Christopher Stansbury, and Brandon Arceneaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Jordan Barron, Hunter Pitre, Reese Burton, Trevor Burton, Cameron Burton, Taylor Fontenot, Zachary Fontenot, and Adam Stansbury.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, September 29, 2013, beginning at 2 p.m. for the family and for the public from 3 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Monday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
