Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Bradley Brinkman, age 84, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012, at the LA Memorial United Methodist Church in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. The Reverend Pam Roy will conduct the service.
Mrs. Bessie was born in Orangefield, Texas and was a long time resident of Opelousas. She passed away peacefully at 8:05 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012, at her home in New Iberia.
Mrs. Brinkman was a graduate of Opelousas High School. She worked in the business office at Opelousas General Hospital for many years. A very spiritual person, Mrs. Brinkman was a member of United Methodist: Woman and was active at Louisiana Memorial Methodist Church, including teaching Sunday School and preparing Communion for many years. She loved to travel with her husband and family members. A caring wife, mother, sister and grandmother, she was greatly loved by all and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Frances Kimball and husband, Patrick of Lafayette Libby Henderson and husband, John of Chatawa, MS Jean Scott and husband, Gerald of New Iberia and Lynn Bates and husband, Steve of New Iberia two sisters, Melissa Montgomery of New Iberia and Edna Moyer of Baytown, TX eight grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, James Barnes Bradley, Sr. and Canary Hill Bradley her husband, of 60 years Harvey Bobby Brinkman three brothers, Dr. James Bradley, Jr, William Bradley and Bobbie Ray Bradley two sisters, Hetta Marie Hancock and Lorraine LaHaye.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, March 15, 2012, from 2:00 p.m. until 9 p.m. On Friday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until time of services at LA Memorial United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Brinkmans family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Hospice Compassus for their extended professional care and kindness and to the Westside Baptist Church of New Iberia for their fellowship and caring support.
