Opelousas Funeral services for Bertha Mae Cary, age 85, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Msgr. Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass.
Mrs. Cary died at 9:25 p.m. Monday November 21, 2011 at Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas. She was a resident of the Lewisburg area.
Mrs. Cary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. May she rest in peace.
Survivors include three daughters Mrs. Romona Leger Aubrey of Cankton, Ms. Brenda Cary of Lafayette, Mrs. Sandra Comeaux Carl of Opelousas, two brothers Clifton Lavergne of Opelousas, J.B. Lavergne of San Diego, California, two sisters Leta Forestier of Opelousas, Rita Johnson of Eunice, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Cary was preceded in death by her husband, Lester J. Cary, a son Blatney J. Cary, a grandchild, Angela Radford, her parents Joseph and Ezola Lavengne, four brothers, Urban Hilman, Chester and Levy Lavergne and one sister, Verly Mae Lavergne.
A visitation will be from 4 pm to 9 pm on Friday, November 25, 2011 and reopen at 8 am on Saturday morning until time of service at 12:00 noon.
The family of Mrs. Cary would like to send a very special Thanks to the staff at Prompt Succor Nursing Home for all their love and care that they provided for Mrs. Cary, the family would also like to send a special Thanks to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative care.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.
