Bernice Roy

Port Barre -A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice F. Roy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Fth. Daniel Picard will conduct the Mass. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
The gifts will be presented by Gayle Stanford and Alice Gaudet. The reader will be Bobby Duplechain. Music will be provided by Patrick Melancon.

Ms. Bernice or" MeMaw" as some called her was a resident of Port Barre, she died on Friday, March 3, 2017, at her home in Port Barre, at the age of 97. Ms. Bernice loved spending time with her family and getting together with her rosary group that she was a part of for 38 years. She made the most delicious cheese cakes and had a heart of gold. She is going to be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Ms. Bernice is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Roy Babineaux and husband Paul of Port Barre; brother, Shelton Fontenot and wife Jerry; sisters, Loyce F. Harmon, Betty F. Stelly; grandsons, Keith (Channey) Babineaux, Paul "Doodie" (Lisa) Babineaux and Jamie Babineaux and great grandchildren, Josh, Colby Ray, Ashley, Colby Mark, Rachelle, Ryan and Justin Babineaux, April Lalonde (Chris) and Brandi Andrus that she loved as her granddaughter; great great grandchildren, Cayde, Jayla, Mariah Babineaux, Noah and Evan Lalonde. Ms. Bernice is also survived by her two nieces that she raised as her own, Carolyn Roy Lomenick and Pat Roy Richard (Warren) and two sister-in-laws, Pap Roy and Beatrice Gayle and two brothers-in-law, Michael Roy and Harry Roy. She was a very special aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Ms. Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, Rayfield Roy; parents, Sulie and Odette Fontenot; grandson, Michael Shane Babineaux; brothers, Wedney Fontenot, Royson Fontenot; sister, Lucy Roy.

Pallbearers will be April Babineaux Lalonde, Ashley Babineaux, Rachelle Babineaux, Colby Mark Babineaux, Bob Duplechain and Cayde Babineaux.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris, Evan and Noah Lalonde, Colby Ray Babineaux, Joshua Keith Babineaux, Ryan Dennis Babineaux and Justin Paul Babineaux.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and reopen on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 9:00 until time for service. A Rosary Service will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.
