Bernice Fontenot

OPELOUSAS- A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice Clay Fontenot, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Reverend Gregory Simien will conduct the service. Rite of Committal will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Fontenot, age 85, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at her residence in Opelousas. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Francis Michael ''Mickey'' Fontenot of Lafayette, Faye Ann Fontenot of New Orleans, and Barbara Dabney and husband, Frank of Opelousas; grandchildren, Jessica Dabney Lanclos, Seth Dabney, Brandon Fontenot, Jared Fontenot, Tara Fontenot Lear; 7 great-grandchildren and niece and nephew, Charmaine Clay Brown and Niles Clay.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Francis Fontenot; parents, Donald ''Buba'' Clay and Olga Peck Clay Castille; brothers, Donald Clay and Gerald Clay.

The family requests visitation be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Jerome Collins at 6:30 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m.
