Port Barre- Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice L. Barron, age 76, will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the New Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Father Nicky Trahan will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Barron was born in Leonville and was a long-time resident of Port Barre. She passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2009, at her residence. She loved her family and was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by two sons: Nelson Barron and wife, Patsy; and Dale Barron and wife, Cindy, both of Port Barre; six daughters: Cheryl Leger and husband, Leroy of Port Barre; Jackie Guidroz and husband, Wayne of Port Barre; Linda Stermer and husband, Benjamin of Krotz Springs; Judy Richard and husband, Terry of Port Barre; Patricia Gauthier and husband, Bobby of Port Barre; and Priscilla LeJeune and husband, Stephen of Port Barre; sister, Eula Mae Campbell of Port Barre; 27 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lennis Barron; two infant children; her parents: Joseph Elie Lalonde and Beulah Marks Lalonde; three brothers: Carroll, Ignace, and Joseph Lalonde; three half-brothers: Murphy, Mervin and Alduce Baumboree; grandson, Timothy Guidroz; and two sons-in-law, Earl Guidroz and Neal Willingham.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Visitation will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre beginning on Friday, March 6, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. with an all night wake until the time of services on Saturday.

A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.
