Port Barre– A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernadette Lucille LeJeune will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Port Barre. Fr. Darren Eldridge will celebrate the mass. Rite of Committal will be held at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre.

Ms. Bernadette, age 72, a resident of Port Barre, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Ms. Bernadette was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Leo Catholic Church and prayed the rosary daily. She was well known for her cooking and her grand sense of humor. Ms. Bernadette was loved by so many and never met a stranger. She cherished spending time with her family and friends the most. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Ortego (Kenneth) of Krotz Springs, Marcy Ellis (Shawn) of Ville Platte, Glenna Mitchell (John) of Port Barre and Catherine Williamson of Arnaudville; sister, Marianne Chapman (Gary Chapman, Sr.) of Centerville, MS; grandchildren, Holly, Mara (Brooke), Nikki (Hunter), Bailey, Austin, Presliey, Culien, Karli, Irene, Amber, Courtney, Kaitlyn, Lacey, Lauren, Lexie and Cody; great-grandchildren, Remi’lee, Zynlie, Brynn, Nash, Adyson, Aleena, Aurora, Harper, Emory, Dylan, Bennet, Grayson and Breckon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonce Landry and Virginia Valenti Landry; and brother, Charles Landry.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre. The rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Gary Chapman, Jr., Steve Chapman, Jeff Chapman, Bailey Ringo, David Landry and Culien Williamson. Honorary pallbearer will be Austin Faul.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Ms. Bernadette’s special friends Brooke Fontenot, Becky Fontenot and Holly D. Ortego. They would also like to thank her LHC Hospice and Palliative care nurses, Belinda and Christine.
