Bennett Joseph Michel, Jr.
Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Bennett Joseph Michel, Jr. will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016, in the Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. Msgr. Paul Metrejean will celebrate the Mass.
Bennett was a native of Franklin and was currently residing in Opelousas. He passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 57. He worked for many years in the oilfield. As a pastime, he would enjoy bowling, woodworking, and going to the casino. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council of Jeanerette. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Patricia W. Michel of Opelousas; son, Nicholas Michel and wife, Maggie of Lafayette; daughters, Andrea Michel of Duson and Abbie Michel of Opelousas; sister, Karen Maturin and husband, Kerrell of Franklin; and three grandchildren, Morgan Michel, Ethan LeBlanc and Kamryn Michel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennett Joseph Michel, Sr. and Alma Elsie Hebert.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016, from 4:00p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.
