OPELOUSAS - Funeral services for Mr. Benjamin Scott West, age 43, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2007 with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.BRBRThe Rev. Paul Bienvenu will officiate the services.BRBRMr. West was a native and resident of Opelousas. He died on Tuesday, November 6, 2007at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette. BRBRBenjamin was a longtime employee of the Opelousas Daily World where he was working as the District Manager. He loved reading the bible, metal detecting and coin collecting. Benjamin loved spending time with family, friends, and his constant companion, his cat Sugar. He was also graduated from T.H. Harris as a Civil Engineer. BRBRSurvivors include his father, Harrington Edgar West, of Opelousas; two brothers, Richard West and wife, Amy, of Grayson, GA, and Paul West and wife, Shelly, of Opelousas; two sisters, Jennifer Simmons and husband, Mark, of Opelousas and Lisa West and John Gaines, of Opelousas; three nephews, Tyler, Peyton, and Brody West.BRBRMr. West was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Gloria Doucet West.BRBRVisiting hours will be observed on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Friday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.BRBRA rosary will be recited at 7p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home.BRBRWords of comfort to the family may be expressed at www.sibillefuneralhomes.com.
