Benjamin Cody Stanford

Port Barre- A Funeral Service for Mr. Cody Stanford, age 59, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2022 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Port Barre. Visitation will be held in church on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Fr. Clint Trahan will conduct the mass.

Cody was a resident of Port Barre and died on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. The majority of Cody’s time was spent outdoors, never sitting still. He enjoyed training his beagles in his rabbit pen. He also loved farming and hunting with his sons. He had a kind heart and would become lifelong friends with anyone he met in the matter of minutes. He loved most of all cooking for his wife, children, and grandchildren and having Thursday night suppers, while forcing everyone to listen to Robert Cray music that was always too loud. His greatest accomplishment was being a daddy and becoming a poppy to his 4 grandsons. He beamed with pride anytime he spoke of them. He was always breaking the rules as poppy and ensuring his 4 grandsons had popsicles, juice, and anything and everything they wanted. Cody loved his dogs Roxie and Lulu. They were his pride and joy.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Stanford; sons, Travis (Angelle) Stanford, and Trey Stanford (Haleigh), daughters, Taylor (Caleb) Higginbotham, and Maci Stanford; mother, Gayle Stanford; brother, Tommy (Pam) Stanford; sister, Lori (Jeff) Landgrave; 4 grandchildren, Tanner, Abbott, and Owen Stanford and Ryder Higginbotham; and a host of nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Cody is preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Stanford and one grandchild, Riley Higginbotham.

Pallbearers will be Travis Stanford, Trey Stanford, Caleb Higginbotham, Mike Clark, Tommy Stanford, and David Hebert.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Kevin Carrier, Lonnie Romar, Bervick Williams, and Tony Aymond.

In Lieu of Flowers the family asks that you make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
