OpelousasA Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Beatrice Stelly Stout will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014, in St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Landry Cemetery Mausoleum with Fr. James Brady as the celebrant.
Mrs. Stout, a lifelong resident of Opelousas, died on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at her residence. She was born on October 5, 1923, in Notleyville, LA. She was active in her church and community, and a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church of Krotz Springs, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, and Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. She was a member of the Altar Society, Legion of Mary, and Rosary Group, as well as the Knights of Columbus and Elks Auxiliaries, and Quilters Guild. She was a devoted wife of 68 years, and a loving and caring mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, greatgreatgrandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, George Stout of Opelousas and her five children: George W. and Verna Miller Stout of Opelousas, LA Gary and Becky Lowry Stout of Baton Rouge, LA Bonnie Stout Cobb of Opelousas, LA Donna and Terry Smith of Lafayette, LA and Vanessa Stout Polk of Gulfport, MS 11 grandchildren, 14 greatgrandchildren, and 1 greatgreatgrandchild. She is also survived by brothers, Charles Ray Stelly of Baton Rouge and Donald Blaine Stelly of Port Barre.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents, Ella Stoute Stelly and Simon Stelly, Jr. and her siblings, Lee Robert Stelly, J. D. Stelly, Elsie Stelly Cormier, Vernon Stelly, Leola Stelly Sonnier, and Earline Stelly Pitre.
Pallbearers will be David Stout, Tyrus Cobb IV, Ryan Stout, Evan Stout, Logan Polk, and Hunter Polk. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Stout, Blaine Stelly, Gene Nepveaux, Terry Smith, and Foster Budd.
Visiting hours will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, December 5, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, the funeral home will reopen at 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
