Bassam Hijazin

OpelousasGraveside Funeral services for Mr. Bassam Attala Hijazin, known to many as Sam, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012, and interment will follow in the Thibodaux Masonic Cemetery in Thibodaux, LA.

Sam was a native of Smakieh, Jordan and a longtime resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 54.

He was currently Pro Desk Supervisor at Home Depot Northside Lafayette, LA location. He worked with Home Depot for over 20 years. He loved to cook and spend time with his family. He was a wonderful, loving, and caring husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. As a pastime, he enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, gardening, and tending to farm animals.

Sam will continue to be a blessing to many others through the gifts of life which he is providing through his donation to the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency And he will be forever our Hero

Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Ozalla Jeanie Echols Hijazin of Opelousas one son, George Hijazin of Chandler, AZ four daughters, Sandy Hijazin and husband, John Baudin of Chandler, AZ Samantha Hijazin of Chandler, AZ Christina Oneal and husband, Christopher Chris of Houston, TX and Brandy Broussard and husband, Aaron of Lafayette two brothers, Osama Hijazin and Samer Hijazin, both of Amman, Jordan and five sisters, Izdeharh Hijazin, Theresa Hijazin, Ghadear Hijazin, Georgette Hijazin, and Abeer Hijazin all of Amman, Jordan brotherinlaw, Ricky Echols and wife, Gwen of Gray and sistersinlaw, Linda Rumore and Debbie Chiasson of Thibodaux and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Attala and Nedah Hijazin one son, Jason Chiasson and an infant brother.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home, 2309 George Drive, Opelousas on Friday, August 17, 2012, beginning at 6:00 p.m. for the family and for the public from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

A Rosary service and Vigil service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.
