Barry Tromblay

Opelousas Funeral Services for Mr. Barry Dean Tromblay, age 66, will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at 12:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Father Pete Smith will officiate the services.

Barry was a native and longtime resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2011, at his residence.

He was a retired Captain with the Opelousas Police Department, where he worked for many years. He served in the U. S. Marshal Service for a number of years. He was also a guard at the St. Landry Parish Courthouse in Opelousas.

He was also a member of the LA National Guard. He was a member of the Louisiana Peace Officers Association, Municipal Police Officers Association of Louisiana. He enjoyed spending time doing woodworking, fishing, and watching sports on television. His favorite teams to watch were LSU football, Saints football, and the Atlanta Braves baseball. He especially loved to spend time relaxing with his dog, Sparky. He was a very loving father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his companion, Mrs. Leona L. Elkins of Opelousas one daughter, Tracy Tromblay Riddle and fianc, Phil Roger of Carencro sisterinlaw, Grace Tromblay of Opelousas grandchildren: Bailey Riddle, Addysen Roger, and Christian Roger his lifelong friend, Gene Fontenot of Grand Prairie two nephews, Gary Tromblay and wife, Monique of Dallas and Steven Tromblay and wife, Angel of Opelousas a host of great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Tromblay and Nora St. Cyr Tromblay his twin brother, Larry Gene Tromblay and his beloved aunt and uncle, Mr. DeJean and Mrs. Lucille Shuff.

The family requests that visitation be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, from 3 p.m.8 p.m. On Wednesday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
