Barbara Bobbie Cahanin Pitre

Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Bobbie Cahanin Pitre, age 58, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Landry Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.

Msgr. Robert Romero will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Bobbie was a native and was a life long resident of Opelousas. She died on Sunday, January 4, 2009, at her residence. She was an LPN for Opelousas General Health System 27 years and worked for Dr. Debbie M. Jurgelsky in Opelousas for over 15 years. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Mr. Anthony Rocky Pitre of Opelousas; son, Ryan Anthony Pitre and wife, Jaron of Opelousas; daughter, Stephanie Dawne Gay of Opelousas; brother, Jimmy Cahanin of Houston; a niece, Nicole Cahanin of Houston; two grandchildren: Kirsten Celeste Clarkson and Rylee Angelle Estes, both of Opelousas; and a host of extended family.

Mrs. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Amaze Jones Cahanin.

Visiting hours will be observed on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
