Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Brown Bernard, 67, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 3, 2006, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Landry Catholic Church and burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Msgr. Romero will conduct the Mass.

Mrs. Bernard, a resident of Opelousas, died at 7:35 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2006, at Opelousas General Health System. She was a clerk at the Office of Family Services, a substitute teacher at Opelousas Catholic, and a member of the St. Landry Catholic Church. In her younger years, Barbara was a softball coach.

Mrs. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Mr. John Shirley Shawee Bernard of Opelousas; four daughters: Debra Bernard Credeur and husband, James of Opelousas; Yvette Bernard Savoy and fianc, Robert W. Credeur of Opelousas; Renee Lynn Bernard Rogers and husband, Steve of New Iberia; and Michelle Bernard Vercher and fianc, Jerry Fontenot of Opelousas; her mother, Icy Dupre Brown of Ville Platte; one sister, Margaret Brown Briley and husband, Ashton June Briley, Jr. of Grand Prairie; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Bernard Reed of Baton Rouge; nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren, one great grandchild, and one step great grandchild.

Mrs. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, John Doucet Brown. Pallbearers will be, James Credeur, Robert W. Credeur, Steve Rogers, Jerry Fontenot, Chris Briley, and Brian Savoy. Honorary pallbearers will be Ashton June' Briley, Jr. and Nicky Briley.
P Visiting hours will be observed from 3 p.m. for the family and 4 p.m. for the public until 10 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2006, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Monday, Visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until time of services. SPAN
