Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Barbara Miller Ardoin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. A visitation will be held at the church on the same day at 9:00 a.m. Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas.
Barbara, passed away on August 3, 2024, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was born on December 22, 1936, in Church Points moving to Chataignier as a young girl.
Barbara loved being around people, so, after the arrival of her daughter, she went to work as a sales clerk at Dardeau's Dress Shop. Eventually, she would make her way to Rexall Drugs and finally to the Ville Platte General Hospital where she worked as a Ward Clerk for many years. Barbara was a very creative person and her talents as a seamstress were most evident in the quilts she designed and created. She also used her creative talents to wallpaper the homes of many friends.
Barbara and her husband, Allen Ardoin, were married for 63 years. She was the daughter of Armas and Virginia Miller, and was the youngest of their eight children.
Barbara's legacy lives on through her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her son Gary Ardoin (Tina Guillot) of Broussard and her daughter Connie Ardoin Durand (Cliff) of Baton Rouge. Additionally, she is survived by her sister Beverly Miller of Chataignier.
In addition to her immediate family, Barbara will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Kacey Ardoin, Alex Durand (Alaina), Eric Ardoin, and Corey Durand.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Allen Ardoin, her parents, Armas and Virginia Miller, as well as, three brothers, and three sisters.
Described as caring, funny, friendly, and lovable, she will greatly missed by her family. May she rest in peace knowing that she was truly loved and will be fondly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her.
