Port Barre A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA, for Mr. August Boy Fontenot. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre, LA. Rev. Father Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Fontenot was a native and a longtime resident of Port Barre. He passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at his home at the age of 84. He was a welder in the Construction field for many years. He would enjoy working of many projects in his spare time. He was also a U. S. Army Veteran who served his country during WWII and a U. S. Navy Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include two sistersinlaw, Mary Hazel Fontenot of Baton Rouge and Mary Lee Fontenot of Hazel Green, Alabama 7 nieces, 4 nephews, and a host of great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysse Fontenot, Sr. and Alecia Taylor Fontenot and his siblings: Marion Chief Fontenot, Easton Tee Fontenot, Florine Fontenot, Lula Mae Fontenot, Merrick Sonny Fontenot, and Ulysse June Fontenot, Jr.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Saturday, February 2, 2013, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
