Arthur Roy Shay Jr.

Arthur Roy Shay, Jr , “AJ”, was born May 31, 1977 in Opelousas, LA and passed away on March 25, 2025 at Opelousas General Hospital. He was a graduate of the 1995 class of Port Barre High School.

AJ was mechanically inclined and loved working with tools. In fact, he could repair just about anything he got his hands on, Cars, motorcycles, home appliances, you name it, he could fix it. He even converted a standard bicycle into a motorized version.

Arthur was preceded in death by his father Arthur Roy Shay. He is survived by his mother Treva Shay and his daughter Gabrielle Gene Shay whom he loved and adored. He is also survived by sisters Paula Loeffler, Stephanie Guidry, and Jennifer Ward and brothers Earl Shay and Troy Shay and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to Arthur’s niece Elizabeth Enos for her help and kindness during Arthur’s final days.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Louisiana Memorial United Methodist Church, 515 E Bellevue St, Opelousas, LA.
