WASHINGTON- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Armede Morain Smith on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington. Fr. Matthew Higginbotham will conduct the service. Rite of Committal will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.
Mrs. Armede, age 100, a resident of Opelousas, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Senior Village Nursing Home.
Mrs. Armede was devout in her faith, she enjoyed reading religious material and praying the rosary. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Lillie Grimmett, Wanda Stelly (Eddie Ray), Carl Smith, Jr. (Belinda Windham Smith); 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a host of great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Bernice Smith and Jackie Morain.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Carl Smith, Sr.; son, Harold Smith; great-grandson, Scott; parents, Clement and Celestine Stoute Morain; 6 brothers, 3 sisters; and son-in-law, Leroy Grimmett.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre
