OpelousasA Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Opelousas at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 6, 2012. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas with Fr. William Bill Miller officiating.
It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Ariel Joseph Bellemin, 92, announces his passing on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Opelousas General Health System. He was a native of Grand Coteau, LA, and a longtime resident of Opelousas, LA. Ariel leaves behind a great legacy of being a devoted father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, brother, uncle, teacher, and friend. He was a retired school teacher with the St. Landry Parish School Board with over 31 years of service. He was a proud U. S. Navy Veteran who served his country during WWII. He was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church, the Retired Teachers Association, and the American Legion.
He leaves behind his loving wife, of 60 years, Mrs. Elaine Sellers Bellemin of Opelousas one daughter, Gayle Cohen and husband, Brad of Lafayette three sons, Mickey Bellemin of Opelousas Carl Bellemin and wife, Brenda of Port Allen and Roy Bellemin and wife, Lynette of Ball, LA and one sister, Alice Perry of Lafayette. His memory will most certainly be cherished by his thirteen grandchildren and fourteen greatgrandchildren.
Ariel now joins in Heaven his parents, Claude Bellemin and Edna Castille Bellemin six brothers: John H. Bellemin, Peter Bellemin, Mike Bellemin, Lloyd J. Coco Bellemin, Aloysious Lush Bellemin, and Octave Tave Bellemin one sister, Lucille Hutzler one greatgranddaughter, Madison Lane Cohen and one greatgrandson, Cooper Schwarz.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Bellemin, Jeremy Bellemin, Kevin Cohen, Zebulon Bellemin, Thomas Miller, Ronald Schwarz, and Jimmy Guidry. Honorary pallbearers will be Isaac Bellemin and Samuel Bellemin.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning at 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, October 5, 2012. On Saturday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. A Rosary will be recited in his honor on Friday evening at 6:30 PM at the funeral home which will be lead by Deacon Jerome Collins.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Prompt Succor Nursing Home, Dr. Richard Tate and staff, Dr. Christopher Sorrel and staff, the staff of Home Instead Senior Care, especially Lou Verda Mister and to Cassie Lee for her friendship and selfless services.
