Antoine Stelly, Jr.

Opelousas A Rosary Service will be recited at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas for Mr. Antoine Bienvenue Stelly, Jr., known to many as Ben. Private Rite of Committal and interment will follow at a later date in the St. Leo Cemetery in Leonville, LA.

Ben was a native and longtime resident of Leonville. He passed away on Monday, December 24, 2012, at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Nursing Home in Jennings, LA, at the age of 83. He was a U. S. Army Veteran who served his country during WWII. He was also a member of the VFW Post 5153 in Arnaudville, LA.

He was a school teacher at Leonville High School for many years. Then, he was the Regional Manager for Dresser Drilling Fluids until his retirement.

Survivors include his daughter, Janice Stelly Guidroz and husband, John of Port Barre and one son, James Bienvenue Stelly, Jr. and wife, Britton of London, England. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Lance Guidroz and fianc, Abby Wyble Beau Guidroz and wife, Kelly Brandi G. Woodburn, Kelli G. Serrette, Amy Stelly, and Benjamin Stelly and 4 greatgrandchildren: Ryker, Ali, Haydn, and Hayes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Antoine Bienvenue Stelly, Sr. and Alma Thelma Carrier Stelly.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, December 30, 2012, from 2 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
