Anna Lee Matte Stanford

Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Lee Matte Stanford, age 72, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Landry Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park.
Father James Brady will celebrate the Mass.
Mrs. Anna was a native of Church Point and was a longtime resident of Opelousas. She died on Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Opelousas General Health System.
She was an insurance agent for many years. She was also an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed cooking and spending time visiting with her family and friends, especially her grandson. She was a devoted mother, and a wonderful wife, daughter, sister, and grandmother.
Survivors include two sons, James Craig Stanford and wife, Melissa of Port Barre and Michael Stanford of Opelousas one daughter, Odette Marie Trahan of Lafayette her mother, Marie Carriere Matte of Church Point one brother, Eddie Matte, Jr. and wife, Cynthia of Church Point one sister, Judy Cormier and husband, George of Cankton and one grandson, Derek A. Stanford of Broussard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie J. Stanford, Jr. and her father, Eddie Matte, Sr. and one nephew, Shane Matte.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, December 9, 2011, from 2 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.
