Port Barre A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA, for Mrs. Anna Mae Reed Roberts. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre. Rev. Father Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.
Mrs. Anna Mae was a native and life long resident of Port Barre. She passed away at her home on March 7, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, caring mother, sister, and grandmother who will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Anna Mae was an avid reader who enjoyed games, puzzles, cooking, and baking. She was a sweet kindhearted woman who loved nothing more than being with her family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Keith Roberts and wife, Sheila of Port Barre two daughters, Dr. Paula R. Sharkey and husband, Michael of Port Barre and Linda R. Burton and husband, Jim of Lafayette two sisters, Virginia R. Guidry of Port Barre and Joycelyn Touchet of Baton Rouge 8 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 5 greatgrandchildren, and 3 step greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Roberts who she was married to for 60 years her parents, Willie J. Reed, Sr. and Anna LaHaye Reed two brothers, Herbert Reed and Willie J. Reed, Jr. and four sisters, Lelia R. Ratelle, Irene Talley, Lilllian Lanclos, and Frances Hatten.
Pallbearers will be Alicia Higginbotham, Tara Fontenot, Dustin Roberts, Sarah Sharkey, Emily Roberts, Nick Roberts, and Anna Sharkey. Honorary pallbearer will be Megan Redman.
The family would like to extend special thanks to all who have helped our mother during her time of need.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Saturday, March 9, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home.
