Anna Johnson

Grand Coteau Funeral Services for Anna Lois Johnson, age 60, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Coteau. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery.

Anna was a resident of Lafayette, and a native of Sunset. She passed away on Friday April 18, 2014, at Lafayette General Hospital. She was a graduate from Sunset High School and attended Xavier University for 3 years. Anna worked at Sears for 30 years and then, The Grand 16 for 8 years where her joyous smiles and presence will truly be missed. Anna loved Zydeco music, dancing, reading, watching movies, cooking and her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, motherinlaw, grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to all you could always count on her for encouraging word, but most of all enjoyed listing to her soninlaw Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble.

She leaves to mourn her husband, Gerald Johnson of Lafayette, her children, Gerald Handy of Lafayette, Shelby Johnson and companion, Amber of Sunset, Rachel Taylor and husband, Jude of Sunset, and Shelly Handy of Lafayette, brother, David Handy and wife, Jackie of Novi. Mich., sisters, Wilda Richard, of Grand Coteau, Rose Ventress of Sunset, Helen Shelvin of Lafayette, four grandchildren, Taylor Handy, London Francis, Jace Handy, and Javin Handy of Lafayette, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Wilfred and Bertha Thibodeaux Handy, sister, Albirta Handy Bates, brother, John Handy, brotherinlaw Russell Richard, Jr, and a sisterinlaw Barbara Smith Handy.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau on Friday, April 25, 2014, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
