Amy Thibodeaux Courvelle

Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Amy Thibodeaux Courvelle, age 86, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. Father Daniel Picard and Father Angelo Cremaldi will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Amy was a native and life-long resident of Lawtell. She died on Thursday, April17, 2008, at Prompt Succor Nursing Facility. She was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell. She was retired from Lawtell High School after working many years in the cafeteria. She loved baking and cooking. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include one sister-in-law, Nathalie Perrodin Thibodeaux of Lafayette; niece and caregiver, Mrs. Maggie Halphen and husband, Lee of Opelousas; special great nephew, Russell and Sherry Courville of Lafayette; special cousin, Bertha and Stanley Guidry of Lawtell; special friend, Mary Mistrot of Opelousas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Moise Courvelle; her daughter, Patricia Gayle Courvelle Crosby; and son-in-law, Ben Crosby; parents: Louis Thibodeaux and Ida Pellerin Thibodeaux; and one brother, Emery Thibodeaux.

Visiting hours were observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, April 17, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. until 10 p.m. On Friday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
