Amelia Carrier

Port BarreA Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Port Barre at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 8, 2012. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre with Fr. Daniel Picard officiating. The reader will be Amy Carrier and the gift bearers will be Monette Carrier Clay and Danette Carrier Faul.
It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Amelia Soileau Carrier announces her passing on Saturday, October 06, 2012, at Senior Village Nursing Home of Opelousas, at the age of 92. She was born in Washington, LA, and lived in Port Barre since age 17. She retired from St. Landry Clinic of Opelousas as a Nurses aide. Amelia leaves behind a great legacy of being a devoted mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Mrs. Carrier is survived by two sons, Clarence Palou Carrier and wife, Gladys of Port Barre and Harold Totsy Carrier and wife, Shirley of Opelousas one brother, Joe Soileau of Slidell and five grandchildren, Barry Carrier and Danette Faul of Port Barre Greg Carrier of Houston, TX Kevin M. Carrier and Monette Clay of Opelousas and nine great grandchildren.
Mrs. Carrier was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dick Carrier parents, Ladis Doc Soileau and Sophie LaFleur Soileau sisters, Carrie Eastman, Venita Monagham, Vivian Soileau, and Ruby Deshotel brothers, LaFleur Soileau, Doug The Fisherman Soileau, and Alvin Soileau.
Serving as pallbearers will be Barry Carrier, Greg Carrier, Kevin Carrier, Drake Carrier, Cole Carrier and Kent Clay.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre beginning at 9:00 AM until 1:45 PM on Monday. A Rosary will be recited on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Dr. Richard Tate, Senior Village Staff, and LA Hospice and Palliative Care LHCGP.
