Mr. Alvin was born in Leonville and was currently residing in Pineville, LA. He passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2008, in M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. He was the owner and operator of LA Hydrostatics, Inc. since 1994. He was also a U. S. Navy Veteran who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He loved three things in life: his family, his friends, and sports and all of those things brought him much joy. He loved to be outdoors fishing and cooking for his family. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching LSU, New Orleans Saints, and the Atlanta Braves play. He would get really upset if either team would happen to lose their game. As a pastime, he would try his luck at the casino playing the slots. He was a very devoted husband, and loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Landry Bergeron of Pineville; his mother, Florence Devillier Bergeron of Leonville; three sons: Keith Bergeron and wife, Ann of Scott; Brad Bergeron of Scott; and Mark Bergeron and wife, Rhonda of Breaux Bridge; three brothers: Clarence Bergeron and wife, Lucy of Richard; Calvin Pete Bergeron and wife, Anna of Covington; and Randy Bergeron and wife, Mary of Leonville; three sisters: Sheila Bergeron of Opelousas; Diana Hebert of Lafayette; and Janell Billeaudeau and husband, Gregg of Opelousas; six grandchildren: Tyler Bergeron, Kayla Bergeron, Drew Bergeron, Lane Bergeron, Reed Bergeron, and Chandler Chautin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oris Bergeron.
Visiting hours will be observed on Sunday, October 5, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church Hall. On Monday, visitation will continue in the church hall 8:00 a.m. until the time of services.
