Alma Reed

Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Alma F. Reed, age 88 at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Father Greg Semien will celebrate the Mass.

Alma was a resident of Opelousas. She passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016, at her home in Opelousas. Mrs. Alma enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Riley Reed, Jr and his wife, Kathleen of Ville Platte, brother, George Fontenot of Lawtell, two grandchildren, Jason Reed and wife, Heather of Houston TX, and Jessica Reed of New Orleans, seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews'.

She was preceded in death by husband, Riley Reed, Sr. and her parents, Alphonse and Helena Boudreaux Fontenot, grandson, Christopher James Reed, and one sister, Helen Meyers

The visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, and will reopen on Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home by Fr. Austin Leger.
