Sunset-Funeral services for Mr. Allen Wheeler, 47, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2007, in the Zion Travelers Baptist Church in Sunset. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Robert Solomon will officiate the services.

Allen Wheeler was born on July 26, 1959, to the late Corrine Minix Wheeler and Voorhies Wheeler, Sr. He was a life long resident of Sunset. He was baptized by the late Rev. Aaron Thomas at an early age. He was a landscaper and yardman for many years.

He departed this life on Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at 1:30 a.m. in the Doctor's Hospital of Opelousas.

He leaves to mourn, yet cherish his memory four sisters: Mary Ann Francis, Annie Jane Etienne, Henrietta Wheeler, all of Sunset; and Norma Wheeler of Waco, TX; three brothers: Voorhies Wheeler, Jr., Leo Paul Wheeler, and Irman Wheeler and wife, Mary Jane all of Sunset; three step sisters, one step brother, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Corrine and Voorhies Wheeler, Sr.

Active Pallbearers will be Edward Etienne, Jr., Eugene Joseph Etienne, Albert Francis, Kennedy Livings, Michael Pierre, and Joseph Michael Wheeler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Voorhies Wheeler, Jr., Irman Wheeler, Leon Henry, Arthur Lee Henry, Christopher Francis, and Gerald Francis.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 30, 2007, from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Zion Travelers Baptist Church in Sunset.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau.
