Port Barre A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA, for Mr. Allen J. Trahan, age 84. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre, La.
Father Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.
Mr. Trahan passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Opelousas General Health System after a lengthy illness. He was born on August 10, 1927 in Scott, La. and spent most of his life as a resident of Port Barre. Allen was a farmer and loved to hunt and fish. Allen loved to work in his garden and yard and also loved spending time at Kings Truck Stop where he had his favorite table so he could meet and greet his many friends and eat lunch together. He is going to be sadly missed by family and friends.
Mr. Allen is survived by a host of nieces and nephews and three best friends, Kurt Myers, Charles Lynch and B.J. Soileau and a very lovely godchild, Barbara Lalonde.
Mr. Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Ophie and Theresa Credeur Trahan wife, Marqurite Taylor Trahan brothers, Paul Trahan, Wilson Trahan sister, Mable Quebedeaux.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012, from 3 pm to 10 pm in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. On Monday, visitation will continue from 8 am until time of service.
A Rosary service will be held at 7 pm on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
