Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Allen Joseph Quebedeaux, age 84, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Msgr. Keith Joseph DeRouen will celebrate the Mass.
Allen was a native of the Arnaudville area and was a longtime resident of Opelousas. He died on Monday, February 14, 2011, at Opelousas General Health System.
He was a U. S. Army Veteran who proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Then, he began his career as clothing salesman for Abdallas Clothing Store where he worked for over 33 years. Then, he worked for Bealls and Stage Dept. Stores until his retirement.
He enjoyed spending time visiting with his children and cooking for his family and friends. He loved to cut his grass and do yard work. He was a wonderful and loving husband, and a very devoted father, brother, grandfather, and greatgrandfather.
Survivors include one son: Bobby Quebedeaux of New Orleans two daughters: Brenda Ryder and husband, Gordon of Opelousas and Debbie Soileau and husband, Felton of Sunset one sister, Lorena Q. Landry of Washington five grandchildren: Gerrit, Bart, and Brent Ryder Katherine Fontenot and Dottie Domingue and two step grandchildren Lennon Clotieaux Fitzgerald and
Lloyd Clotieaux, three greatgrandchildren: Brooks and Rileigh Fontenot and Eli Domingue.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Dupre Quebedeaux brothers: Edwin, Antoine, Wilfred, and Felix Quebedeaux and three sisters: Therese Q. Viviano, Aimee Q. Marks and Agnes Q. Lanclos.
The family would like to send a special Thanks to his caretakers Dr.Gary Blanchard his God Son and Mrs. Shirley Kennerson.
Pallbearers will be Gerrit, Bart, and Brent Ryder James and Dennis Quebedeaux, and Dr. Gary Blanchard.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. On Wednesday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
