Alida Dunbar

Opelousas Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, LA, for Mrs. Alida Guidry Dunbar. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Rev. Stephen Fife and Rev. Walt Dunbar will officiate the services.

Mrs. Alida was born in Krotz Springs and longtime resident of Opelousas. She passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home at the age of 82.

She was a telegraph operator and bookkeeper with Western Union Telephone and Telegraph Company for many years. She was a member of the LA Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful, loving, and caring mother, sister, and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughters, Myrt Fontenot and husband, Johnny of Opelousas Maria Laborde and husband, Bill of Opelousas Linda Hamilton of Texas and Earline Hayes and husband, Jack of Opelousas one daughterinlaw, Margaret Dunbar of Opelousas and numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Rick Dunbar her parents, Valerie Valo Guidry and Zule Mae Ortis Guidry brother, Jessie Guidry and sisters, Lovina Wiltz, Taccon Hidgon, and Mary Lejeune.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, December 7, 2012, from 3 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
