Alice Richard

Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Alice Hidalgo Richard will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015, at the St. Landry Catholic Church. Rev. Msgr. Louis Melancon will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Alice was a native and lifelong resident of Opelousas. She passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Prompt Succor Nursing Home at the age of 96. She was a pharmacy technician at Opelousas General Health System for 22 years. She was a volunteer worker at Opelousas General Health System for many years. She was a past member of the St. Landry Catholic Church Ladies' Altar Society and the Opelousas General Health System Life's Champions Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by two sons, Robert A. Richard and wife, MaryAnn of Carencro; and Paul W. Richard and wife, Kim of Opelousas; three grandchildren, Angie Boleyn and husband, Michael of Breaux Bridge; Heath Richard and wife, Kaitlyn of Lafayette; and Hunter Richard and wife, Courtney of Lafayette; two step granddaughters, Jordan Egger of Opelousas; and Jessica Kidd of Brownwood, TX; five great-grandchildren, Lacey Boleyn of Bomoseen, VT; Juliana Boleyn and Andrew Boleyn, both of Breaux Bridge; Elizabeth Richard and Greyson Richard, both of Lafayette; and three step great-grandchildren, Rylee, Kaylee, and Torree, all of Brownwood, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen J. Richard; her parents, Pierre Gilbert Hidalgo and Alexandrine Richard Hidalgo; five brothers, Leo Hidalgo, Horace Hidalgo, Joseph Hidalgo, Louis Hidalgo, and Victor Hidalgo; and three sisters, Louise Briley, Eugenia Hidalgo, and Edna Broussard.
Pallbearers will be Michael Boleyn, Heath Richard, Hunter Richard, Vernon Mott, and Wayne Rabalais.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, May 11, 2015, from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home.
