A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Mrs. Alice "Ticky" McClelland, on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington. Reverend Higginbotham will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Ticky, age 87, passed away on the Monday, April 30, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
In her past years, Ticky was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Washington, where she served as president for two years. Ticky taught catechism at St. Landry Catholic Church. She also served as chairman for Toys for Tots. Ticky served on the Ladies Altar Society for St. Landry and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In her recent years, she enjoyed gardening and tending to her flower beds. She was a devout catholic who dedicated her time to the Lord, reading scriptures, and attending the Come to Lord Jesus- Love Never Fails study group. She loved talking on the phone and having coffee with her friends and neighbors. Ticky cherished her family and enjoyed cooking family dinners and babysitting her grandchildren. She was deeply dedicated to her family and the Lord. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert McClelland; sons; Michael Bacon, and Thomas McClelland and wife Susan; daughters, Cathy Bacon Callahan and husband, Joseph, Greta McClelland Aucoin and fiancé, Darrell C. Fontenot, and Nancy McClelland Jarnagin and husband, Tom; brother Albert Soileau and wife, Irene; Daughter-in-law, Jackie Bacon; special nephew, Mark Ortego; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Louise Fisher Soileau; first husband, Edgar Bacon, Jr.; son, Fredrick Bacon; sister, Frances Soileau Ortego and husband, Mac Ortego; brothers, Will Soileau and wife, Kathleen Soileau and Rev. Charles Soileau.
The family requests visitation be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The Come to Lord Jesus study group will pray the rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The funeral home will reopen on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jason Huguet, Benjamin Aucoin, Adam Carter, Ross Wilson; nephew, Mark Ortego; and son-in-law, Tom Jarnagin. Honorary pallbearer will be her grandson, Jamie Bacon.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Heart of Hospice and Ticky's nurse, Megan; as well as her grandson, Ross Wilson, who was an amazing caregiver to her for the last year and a half. They would also like to thank all her family and friends that prayed for her.
