Alice Evelyn Batton
Opelousas Alice Evelyn Titard Batton, age 90, died Sunday, May 09, 2010, Mothers Day at her home in Opelousas. She was born September 25, 1919 in Opelousas Louisiana where she lived most of her life. She was a graduate of the Academy of the Immaculate Conception, and Soule Business College in New Orleans. She worked at a legal secretary and then as a court reported until the age of 81 when she retired. She was a member of the St. Landry Catholic Church, the St. Landry Parish Legal Secretaries, the Catholic Daughters of America, Court 119 and the Sweet Heart of Mary Rosary Group.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert N. Batton, her parents Pierre Louis Bastille Titard and Alice Marcott Titard, her brothers, Lear and Clayton Titard, her sisters, Irma Bonita Titard and Naomi Nathan Vickery, and a granddaughter, Tracy Batton. She is survived by her children and spouses: Robert and Gretchen Batton, Albuquerque, New Mexico Donald Batton, Iota Susan Batton Carriere, and her husband John, of Baton Rouge Janice Batton, and her husband, Sumner Howard, of Lafayette and David and Rose Batton, Opelousas. Grandchildren: Peter Batton, Jeff Batton, Maureen Esteb, Colin Mayne, Erica Flores, Arianne Batton, John Carriere, III, Rebecca Carriere Christofferson, Ryan Batton, Olivia Batton, and Zachary Mederith great grandchildren: Rachel Whittle, Natalie Batton, Ethan Esteb, Michael Batton, Isabell Esteb, Evelyn Rose Christofferson and one greatgreat grandchild, Adeline Whittle. She is also survived by a first cousin, Aline Lafond, nieces, Marie Williams, Sandi Titard, and Carol Obrien, and a nephew, Pierre Titard and a special friend and neighbor, Thomas Jones.

Visitation at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas on Thursday, from 9am to 8pm. A rosary will be recited at 6:00pm by the Sweet Heart of Mary Rosary Group. Funeral services will be held at St. Landry Catholic Church on Friday, May 14 at 1:00pm with burial in the St. Landry Catholic Cemetery. Father Kenneth Mayne will officiate. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Peter Batton, Jeff Batton, John Carriere, III, Ryan Batton, Zachery Meredith, and her neighbor Thomas Jones.
