Alex Van Leininger

Port Barre Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013, at First Baptist Church for Alex Van Leininger. Interment will be private and held at a later date. Rev. Benji Richard will conduct the Service.
Alex was a native and longtime resident of Port Barre, LA. He passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Womens and Childrens Hospital in Lafayette at the age of 15.
Alex would have been a sophomore at Port Barre High this year where he was an honor student. Alex was a pure country boy who was an avid fisherman and hunter. Alex never met a stranger no matter what their age, sex or race and he always left quite an impression on those he met. He lived and loved life to the fullest and he passed this on to everyone he came into contact with. Alex continues to show that giving of life to others as he was an organ donor so that others could be given the gift of life Alex truly is a hero.
Alex is survivored by his parents, Shawn and Rachel Gaudet Leininger of Port Barre paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Leininger of Port Barre, maternal grandmother, Evelyn Gaudet of Port Barre brother, Brandon Guidry of Port Barre niece Leila Guidry of Port Barre uncles, Leon Gaudet, Tonne Leininger and Kerry Leininger aunts, Monica Wolfe and Kim Leininger godmother, Michelle Guillory and paran Tony Guillory.
Alex was preceded in death by paternal grandfather,James Leininger maternal grandfather, John Gaudet and uncle Terry Leininger.
Pallbearers will be Cameron Briley, Matthew Mills, Ty Roberts, Ty Joubert, Tyler Guillory and Jake Bertrand. Honorary pallbearers will be Cayden Faul, Nick Dekerlegand and Ashton Dekerlegand.
Visiting hours will be observed in the First Baptist Church of Port Barre on Monday, July 29, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
