Leonville A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville, LA, for Mr. Alex Francis Chautin who was known to all as Frank. Rite of Committal, Military Honors, and interment will follow in the St. Leo Cemetery in Leonville. Father Kenneth Domingue will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass.
Mr. Frank was a native and longtime resident of Pecaniere. He passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas. He was a U. S. Army Veteran who proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired School Bus Driver with the St. Landry Parish School Board with over 29 years of service. He was also a painter for over 15 years. During his spare time, he would refurbish furniture as a hobby. He was a devoted husband, and a loving and caring father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, uncle, brother, and friend who will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lenola Robin Chautin of Pecaniere two sons: Wayne Chautin and wife, Anita Richard Chautin of Leonville and Blaine Chautin of Pecaniere two daughters, Darlene Melancon of Arnaudville and Elaine Leger of Pecaniere one brother, Leaton Lee Chautin and wife, Shirley of Arnaudville one sister, Laura Marks of Pecaniere 9 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Chautin and Regina Badeau Chautin one sister, Mary Cecil Chautin Allen and two grandchildren, Jake Augustus Chautin and Sarah Alyce Melancon.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Chautin, Blaine Chautin, Andrew Chautin, Joshua Leger, Jeremy Leger, Dustin Leger, Gregory Leger, and Matthew Leger.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012, from 6 pm to 10 pm in the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church Hall in Leonville. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 7:30 am until 10:30 am in the church hall.
A Rosary service will be held at 7 pm on Friday evening in the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church Hall.
