Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA, for Alec Hayden Olivier. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre. Rev. Father Albert Nunez will celebrate the Mass.
Alec was a native and longtime resident of Port Barre. He passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Lafayette General Medical Center at the age of 20. As a pastime, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, playing baseball, umpiring baseball games, watching football games, and working out for exercise. He was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, uncle, and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. As in life, Alec continues to give to others by becoming an organ donor And he will be forever our Hero
Survivors include his mother, Angela Chautin Olivier and companion, Jason Wartelle of Port Barre father, Herman Olivier of Port Barre brothers, Trevor Olivier, Kross Olivier, and Blayde Olivier, all of Port Barre halfbrother, Damian Benoit of Port Barre halfsister, Sarah Benoit of Port Barre niece, AnnaKate Benoit of Port Barre maternal grandparents, Lee Charles Chautin and Betty Stelly Chautin of Lebeau paternal grandparents, Rogers Olivier and Georgia Soileau Olivier of Port Barre godparents, Shane Stelly of Waxia and Michelle Chautin Stelly of Carencro and a special friend, Morgan Eppley of Ville Platte and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Kenneth Olivier.
Pallbearers will be Trevor Olivier, Cody Stelly, Damian Benoit, Brandon Vern Deville, Josh Belleau, and Terrence Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Kross Olivier and Bodie Stelly
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, June 28, 2012, beginning at 5 p.m. with an all night wake until 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Lafayette General Medical Center ICU Nurses and staff especially Shaun Fontenot and the LOPA staff.
