Opelousas - Albert Paul St. Amand, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2023, at Lafayette General Medical Center. He was born on September 12, 1938, in Opelousas, Louisiana. Known for his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his craft, Albert made a lasting impact through his career in the sewing industry.

Paul's journey in the sewing industry began in the 1960s when he proudly owned and operated his own Singer Store in the Houma/Thibodaux area. His passion and expertise led him to expand his business endeavors, eventually establishing A&A Sewing Center in the Lafayette area during the 1980s. Today, this cherished family business he started continues to thrive in Broussard.

Always an avid learner and seeker of knowledge, Albert excelled not only as a business owner but also as an expert in sewing machines. His commitment to understanding and perfecting the art of sewing machines allowed him to serve countless individuals seeking assistance or guidance throughout his career.

A veteran, Albert served with honor in the Army. His military service exemplified his unwavering dedication to his country and further demonstrated his selflessness and courage.

Paul will be remembered as a great person who was loved by all his family and friends. He touched the lives of those around him with kindness, generosity, and a genuine warmth that left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Survived by his sons: Paul Craig St. Amand (Beth), Mark St. Amand (Laura), Chris St. Amand (Helen), stepsons Joel Swanson (Adriana) and Lorne Bonin (Hannah), as well as Agnes St. Amand, mother of his children. Paul is also survived by his sister, Faye St. Amand.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Judy Stanford St. Amand, his parents, Joseph Paul St. Amand and Rita St. Amand, his brothers Glen St. Amand and James St. Amand, his sisters, Helen St. Amand, and Annette St. Amand Nolan, and grandson Gregory Paul St. Amand.

Paul's legacy continues through his 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren who will undoubtedly cherish the memories they shared with their beloved grandfather.

To honor Paul's life, visitation services will be held on November 16, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas, Louisiana. The burial will take place immediately after the funeral service in the Msgr. Melancon Mausoleum.

Albert Paul St. Amand's remarkable journey as an entrepreneur, veteran, and loving family man will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace knowing that he left an indelible mark on the hearts of many and that his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the memories of all who knew him.
