Opelousas A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 12:00 p.m. in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Opelousas, LA, for Mr. Albert John Boudreaux. Rev. Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA.

Albert John Boudreaux, a native and lifelong resident of Opelousas, was born November 16, 1923 he died on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the Southwest Louisiana War Veteran Nursing Home in Jennings, LA, at the age of 90. A graduate of The Academy of the Immaculate Conception, he was voted by his coaches and teammates as Most Valuable Player of the football team. Following his service in the U. S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II, he graduated valedictorian of the class of 1949 from Spring Hill College with Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and English. At Spring Hill College he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Nu Jesuit Honor Society and the recipient of the Bishop Toolen Medal for the highest scholastic average of the class. After receiving his masters of history from Louisiana State University, he furthered his education earning a Bachelor of Laws from Loyola University School of Law in 1957 and was titled Juris Doctorate. He practiced law with his brotherinlaw, the late A. Veazie Pavy, as a member of the law firm Pavy Boudreaux, later admitting his son Alfred Veazie Pavy Boudreaux to complete the practice. For many years, he was active in Rotary International, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, The Louisiana Bar Association and other various service and religious organizations.

Albert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ida Catherine Pavy Boudreaux, and five sons, Henry Pavy Boudreaux of Baton Rouge, James Pavy Judith Collet Boudreaux of Lafayette, Alfred Veazie Pavy Brenda Gallaher Boudreaux of Opelousas, Benjamin Pavy Fara Habetz Boudreaux of Rayne, and Christopher Pavy April Brister Boudreaux, Sr. of Mobile, AL, He is survived by twelve grandchildren, Yvonne Marie Boudreaux Austin, TX, Michael Davis Boudreaux, Baton Rouge, Paul Davis Boudreaux Austin, TX, Dr. Catherine John Broussard Lafayette, Suzanne Brandon Aydlett New Orleans, Adrienne Louise Boudreaux Lafayette, Daniel Alfred Boudreaux Opelousas, John Albert Pavy Boudreaux Boulder, CO, Annie Marie and Camille Ida Boudreaux Rayne, Christopher Pavy Boudreaux, Jr. and James Eldridge Boudreaux Mobile, AL and one great grand child, James Richard Broussard. He is survived by three siblings, Robert ONeil Lenita Boudreaux, James Jerome Jerry Theresa Boudreaux, both of Lake Charles, and Jane B. Boudreaux Smith widow of Dr. William I. Smith of Lafayette.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Mick Gladys Hohorst Boudreaux, his sister, Gladys Elise Boudreaux, Daughter of Charity, his brothers, James O. and Charles Adam the late Annie Louise Pavy Boudreaux, Sr.
The family expresses special thanks to the entire staff of The Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home.

Pallbearers will be his six grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Fournier, Dr. Tom Darbonne, Dennis Rousseau, and Dr. Harold Edwards.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014, from 4:00 p.m.7:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.

On Saturday, the family and friends will meet at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. for the blessing. A Rosary service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the church.
