Opelousas Funeral services for Adolph Taylor, Sr., age 79, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2010, with a service in the Sibille Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Father Austin Leger will officiate the service.
Adolph passed away at U.M.C. in Lafayette on Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Adolph owned and operated Taylors Texaco Station on the Washington road from 1970 until his retirement in 1993. He enjoyed gardening, farming, playing cards, fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed raising his animals and seeing the wildlife on his farm.
Adolph is survived by his loving wife, of 53 years, Mrs. Joyce Stelly Taylor of Opelousas, his sons John R. Taylor and wife Marie of Leonville, Ronnie Taylor and wife, Brenda of Opelousas, David J. Taylor and wife, Mona of Opelousas, Mark A. Taylor and wife, Shelly of Opelousas, and Adolph Taylor, Jr. of Opelousas, one daughter Brenda Gayle Taylor of Opelousas, his brother Whitney Taylor and wife Mavis of Arnaudville, one sister Agnes Bryant and husband, Allen of Nederland, TX, ten grandchildren, and six greatgrandchildren.
Adolph was preceded in death by his parents John and Eloise Lagrange Taylor, and his first wife Rena Mae Mallet, his brothers George and Mathias Taylor, his sisters Joyce Nelson, Hazel Devillier, and Bernice Cousson and one grandchild, Michael J. Taylor.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, December 2, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Friday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home by Deacon Tom Lindsey.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Acadiana.
